  1. I'll try and get the book in the library! Interiors are important though... whether they're grungy (as in Fagin's "crib"), officious (Dodson & Fogg), precise (Dombey's residence), or ramshackle (the Old Curiosity Shop). Dickens surely loved interiors as part of the thetrical experience of life.

  2. Yes, and don't forget Crooks! My mind's eye sees that unfortunate abode as worse than the Old Curiosity Ramshackle, but I digress. ;-) I had no idea he was so fastidious on his surroundings. I'm itching to do some psychoanalysis on him.
